5th Grade

Fifth graders are quite able and focused on a variety of art subjects.  They are great listeners and can follow multiple directions.  They think they know their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to artistic skills.  Art with these kiddos is so much fun; projects can be more complex and really take on the artists' own creative eye.

Here are the skills and standards we will be focusing on:

• Use one-point perspective to create illusion of space, use perspective in an artwork
• Identify the principles of design emphasizing unity and harmony
• Identify and produce art that represents a regions folk art
• Create an abstract work of art
• Assemble a sculpture or or a mixed media 2 dimensional composition

Most importantly, we will have fun being creative and learning several different art techniques/mediums such as tempura paint, watercolor, clay, oil and chalk pastels, markers, colored pencils, printmaking and much more.
