1st Grade

First Graders are so cute;  beaming with enthusiasm, creativity, and eagerness.  Their skills and confidence are building; listening and following directions getting better and better.  They love to draw, paint, and explore color theory and mixing.

Skills and Standards we will be focusing on are:

• Learning to use a paint brush effectively
• Understand line, shape, repeat patterns found in nature or works of art
• Follow directed line drawings well
• Learn about Primary colors and mixing for Secondary colors
• Fold and cut paper into symmetrical shape
• Create artwork based on observation, view and create art from various cultures
• Identify and create various subject matter (landscapes, seascapes, portraits)
• Create a pinch pot or textured slab of clay

Most importantly, we will have fun being creative and learning several different art techniques/mediums such as tempura paint, watercolor, clay, oil and chalk pastels, markers, colored pencils, printmaking and much more.
